The solution
The bespoke, highly technical, BEng degree was co-developed with Dyson engineers and played to our strengths of bridging the gap between industry and academia.
We have worked with companies for 40 years to develop industry relevant educational programmes and for us, developing Degree Apprenticeships has been a natural step. We currently deliver Degree Apprenticeships for companies including Amazon, Aston Martin, Dyson, Jaguar Land Rover, Thales, Rolls Royce, Airbus and Royal Mail Group.

WMG and partners on the OmniCAV project (led by Aimsun) complete a three-year programme of research that lays the foundations for proving the safety of autonomous vehicles
The AutopleX project is a collaborative R&D project partially funded by the Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CCAV) and Innovate UK, bringing together WMG at the University of Warwick and leading automotive and mobility management partners Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and Yunex Traffic, as well as public bodies including Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) and National Highways.
WMG has led the development and implementation of a proof-of-concept demonstrator, where the onboard perception of a vehicle whilst on a motorway ramp was fused with infrastructure-based sensing received over a Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication system. This created a more comprehensive understanding of the environment in which the vehicle was travelling, to enable safer, more efficient, and more comfortable navigation at high-speed junctions, such as motorway merges, supporting the future connected and automated vehicles (CAV) for level 4 autonomy.

The Verification and Validation (V&V) team at WMG are undertaking a programme of research and engineering across the verification and validation spectrum. With the emergence of evermore complex systems comes evermore complex challenges. Chief among these challenges, that of assuring safety. The V&V team work from fundamental research, to applied research, the development of policy, standards and regulation, direct commercial research, and professional education offerings. Our programme of work is having a material impact on the creation and application of novel safety assurance methods across emerging technologies: with its foundation in Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAV’s) and extending across transportation domains (i.e. aviation, land, marine) and novel technologies (i.e., AI). Design Visualisation is an important mechanism for communicating and reviewing the visual aspects of a design. Traditional approaches involve the use of physical models, however advances in digital technologies allow the increased use of virtual 3D models, which can help to reduce development costs and time-to-market. However, it's important that virtual models are accurate and realistic representations of the design to support decision-making processes. This is a highly practical course which provides delegates with ‘hands-on’ experience of battery abuse testing in a EUCAR level-7 test chamber. It equips delegates with an understanding of battery failure mechanisms, the different approaches to battery abuse testing and an appreciation of the unpredictable nature of this type of battery testing. Delegates will develop an understanding of the hazards created during battery failure events and how these hazards can be managed.
