This March, WMG launched a seminal policy report on how to take a cross domain safety assurance framework approach for any automated transport system (land, air and marine). The event was held in Central London with more than 60 delegates from government agencies, industry, and academia. Over the past 12 months, 35 organisations (industry, academic, government and regulators) from the UK and internationally have contributed to the discussions in the various working parties which have been captured in the report.
WMG were very honoured to have Louise Haigh MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Transport of the United Kingdom, The Rt Hon Greg Clark MP, Chair of the Commons Science and Technology Select Committee and Iain Stewart MP, Chair of the Commons Transport Select Committee, as our keynote speakers for this event.
Prof Siddartha Khastgir, Head of Verification and Validation said, ‘It was a great pleasure to work with regulators, developers, and the industry in the past 12 months on a cross-domain approach to the safety of autonomous transport systems. Next step, we will focus on creating an action plan for implementing the recommendations of the report.

Discover the Improving Access and Participation in Engineering Research (IAPER) Project, led by WMG’s Dr Freeha Azmat and co-led by Dr Mark Elliott from WMG and Professor Joanna Collingwood from the School of Engineering. This project aims to showcase successful women in STEM from underrepresented backgrounds.

A one-day short course focuses on battery recycling legislation, health and safety, economics and the battery recycling process, from end-of-life electric vehicles through to the production of battery-grade material. The course also offers a platform for industry to communicate with professors, and chief/principal/lead engineers from WMG’s Energy Innovation Centre; and opens future collaboration opportunities between industry and academic institutions.
