The Safe Autonomy Research Group at WMG worked with the Civil Aviation Authority on the Systems Theoretic Process Analysis-based Safety Analysis for eVTOL Operations research project.
To support eVTOLs to safely integrate into the UK airspace, this project uses a system-thinking approach to holistically analyse interactions between aircraft, software, hardware and human operators. As a result, we identify a number of potential risks and hazards of future eVTOL operation and close the current potential gaps in regulation, including airspace integration, vertiport operations and automation.

We’re thrilled that the University of Warwick and the Tata Group have won the Royal Academy of Engineering's Bhattacharyya Award for their pioneering partnership.
Launched in 2019 to honour the late Professor Lord Kumar Bhattacharyya (founder of WMG), the award recognises long-term, impactful collaboration between academia and industry, and celebrates the projects that help make our world a better, more sustainable place.
The Warwick-Tata partnership spans research, education, and industry. It has established one of Europe’s largest research and development hubs, delivering over 100 projects with £500 million of investment, and trained more than 750 degree apprentices.
At WMG, we’re proud of our longstanding relationship with Tata, encompassing work on electric motors and supply chains with JLR, and with Tata Steel to support its move to electric arc furnaces.

Warwick Agri-Tech launched its new Pilot Facility this summer, marking a major milestone in advancing scalable agricultural innovation. The new facility provides a space where technologies can be developed from lab concepts, through test-bed prototypes, to full validation in commercial-scale settings. Warwick Agri-Tech combines advanced engineering with plant science, delivering solutions to shape the next generation of agriculture.
