Amelia, one of our apprentices, takes you on a guided tour of our innovative new Degree Apprenticeship Centre. The facility has a unique learning environment with open spaces for collaborative and individual work, technology-enabled seminar rooms and a purpose-built, multifunctional, laboratory for activity based teaching and learning using state of the art equipment. The Centre has received £10 million from the government’s Local Growth Fund through the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership.

One of the main driving forces behind making transport electric is to lessen our impact on the environment by reducing the amount of carbon dioxide produced by vehicles.
As well as looking at the mechanical ways vehicles can be improved, we also look into the ways we can tweak our behaviours and travelling patterns. For example, we can lessen our impact on the planet by travelling less, and by making sure that we use the right form of transport when we need to travel.

The global Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAV) industry is estimated to be worth over £50billion (by 2035), with the UK CAV industry projections being over £3billion. Additionally, the UK Government's Industrial Strategy aims to bring fully autonomous cars without a human operator on the UK roads by 2021, one of the first countries in the world to achieve this. However, in order to realise this vision and the market potential, safe introduction of CAV is necessary, requiring significant research to overcome diverse barriers associated with public deployment of CAV.
The overall vision for Siddartha Khastgir's UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship is to support positioning the UK as the world leader in CAV research and innovation for long lasting societal and economic benefits. The Fellowship aims to solve some of the most pressing challenges that stand in the way of successful adoption of CAV. The Fellowship proposal is to create a novel evaluation continuum for CAV.

With four fusion sciences interwoven throughout the programme, this course will deliver a breadth of scientific training including high-level consultation skills; a holistic, evidence- and values-based approach to shared decision making; and clinical physiology.

Jaymisha is in her second year of studying her Digital and Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship at WMG, University of Warwick whilst working at Thales developing Air Traffic Control software.
We caught up with Jaymisha to ask her to reflect on her first year. She says "Becoming an apprentice was one of the best decisions I have ever made, I have been able to study my passion whilst also taking on the responsibility and valuable hands-on experience of being in a workplace environment."
